While this use of robots may help facilitate certain religious practices and make them more accessible, it also raises concerns about reducing spiritual experience to mechanical actions that lack intention and awareness. The philosophical dilemma lies in a question that goes beyond technological efficiency: Does the technological intermediary help expand the presence of religion in human life, or does it reshape religious practices in a way that separates actions from their deeper existential meaning?
Regardless of how accurately a robot performs its tasks, a technological entity lacks consciousness and personal intention. This raises important philosophical and ethical questions about whether religious actions can legitimately be assigned to robots. This issue becomes even more complex due to the absence of clear legal and ethical frameworks that define responsibility for the actions and outputs of robots within the sacred domain. Therefore, this issue requires a critical approach that balances technological possibilities with the unique nature of spiritual experience. It is also necessary to establish clear limits on automation in order to preserve the human meaning of religion and protect the spiritual experience.
