In this view, one cannot arrive at faith through rational thought and historical evidence alone. For Kierkegaard, the life of faith is fundamentally life lived within the framework of Christianity, and it is this Christian faith that preserves life in the face of all theoretical conflicts. Mulla Sadra, on the other hand, believed that faith, although a matter of the heart, is not limited to mystical revelation. Rather, knowledge of Allah, Almighty, through evidence and proof, that is, belief derived from theoretical reason, can also be considered faith of the heart. In other words, his efforts were based on establishing a foundation of reconciliation and harmony between reason and faith, or between mysticism and proof.
